Inspired by the enduring magic and importance of books, the mission of Chronicle Books is to create exceptional publishing that's instantly recognizable for its spirit, creativity and value. Now one of the most widely admired publishing companies in the United States, Chronicle Books was founded in 1966. Over the following years, Chronicle Books developed a reputation as a publisher of award-winning, innovative books. The company's Children's List, launched in 1988, began with six titles and now publishes more than 50 titles annually and has a licensing agreement with Nickelodeon. The following year, international children's book publisher North-South Books came on board. In 2000 and 2001, North-South started Sea Star Books, which was acquired by Chronicle Books. The San Francisco Bay area, where Chronicle Books makes its home, offers the company an enormous talent pool to publish books that are sumptuous, classic and collectible.
